So I restarted this site, put up a single post and then ended up just leaving it for a while (It’s such a pain to have to actually make a living, you know).

While I was looking the other way, my single post turned out to be really, really popular–with spammers from Russia. I finally came back around the other day and found that the one worthless post I’d put on here about restarting the site had 84 comments from spammers.

What I realized when I looked into it, was that when I’d installed wordpress and set up this site, I’d forgotten to activate Akismet, the blogger’s best friend and anti-spam comment plugin. Well, I went to wordpress.com, got my api key, and activated Akismet. I then deleted all of the spam comments and just for good measure I’ve deleted the post as well, since now Google’s going to think that page is spam. I’ll add a new, new introductory post to take its place.

Hopefully this burst of activity on this blog won’t completely sap my creative ambition for the next couple of months.
